The online speculative fiction magazine Strange Horizons published my short story “Feeder Fish” today! It’s a work of dark speculative fiction (or maybe horror-lite?) set in Morro Bay. Even though it has absolutely nothing to do with dragon boating, the inspiration really came from my experiences dragon boating with the Central Coast SurviveOars in beautiful Morro Bay in California. It’s my own weird kind of love letter to those waters, which may sound strange given that it’s technically a work of horror fiction…but still. Horror + nature writing + ghost story = “Feeder Fish”?
